Robert Parker.com: "The quiet Luis Anxo keeps turning some of the best examples in Ribeiro from his tiny winery in Arnoia. All wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts and pretty much left on their own, bottled and sold later than the norm. His wines, the same as the author, are austere, settled and serious. This year he launches a new wine, A Teixa, from a vineyard in Ribadavia, the first one outside his village.
2010 Escolma Red: Sold later than the other reds, the 2010 Viña de Martín Escolma is the top red wine here, a blend of Brancellao, Caíño Longo, Ferrol and Caíño Redondo that is fermented in stainless steel with natural yeast and aged for one year in new-ish oak barrels and rested for three years in bottle before being sold. This is a concentrated, austere, serious, age-worthy red, which does not show its age at all, a blend of red and black fruit with some spice notes. The nose is very balsamic, still marked by the oak, it feels very young and lively. It needs to develop more complexity and aromas. It's a very concentrated, taciturn red that is going to age for a very long time, and it will be much better in a year or two from now. This wine has a proven track record for longevity and 2010 seems to be a superb, balanced vintage. 3,800 bottles were filled." 94 Punkte |
