Ribera del Duero "Seleccion Vinas Viejas"
Sample picture and vintage

Robert Parker The Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Seleccion Vinas Viejas is produced with a selection of old, head-pruned Tempranillo vineyards in La Aguilera (Burgos) that average 70 years of age. The grapes fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and the wine aged in French oak barrels for one year before bottling. 5,900 bottles were produced. It has a lively color and an aromatic nose, mixing notes of ripe blue and black fruits and exotic spices. It is very fresh for a warm vintage such as 2011, with the wood almost imperceptible. The palate is medium-bodied, streamlined, with fine-grained tannins, good balance and flavors that linger for a long time. Powerful and elegant. Drink now-2018."

The Wine Advocate zur Hacienda Solano: "The wines from Bodega Hacienda Solano really stood out from the pack during my tastings at the Consejo Regulador. Here was prudent winemaking, thoughtful wines that harnessed the opulence of Ribera del Duero with a sense of elegance and complexity. As far as I could see, there is at present, not importer in the United States for these excellent wines."
