The wines have turned out beautifully: they're ampler and more open-knit than the stunning 2017s, in keeping with the style of the vintage, but long élevage has worked its magic and the wines have picked up plenty of depth and texture during their two winters in barrel. While my emphasis at this address is on tasting finished wines from bottle, as they can be hard to read only 12 months after the harvest, I also took the opportunity to look at several 2019s, and this appears to be an even more exciting vintage in the making.”
